Setting the lock?

I have 3 Emersons...one CQC7B and two CQC7A's. One of my A's had a problem where if I pressed the back of the open blade with medium pressure the lock would creak and start to slide back over part ways. This morning I took the knife, tried it again, it did it as usual. Then I moderately whacked the back of the blade against my thigh (not as test of lock strength but to try something new). There was one slight click sound. Now I notice the lock is rock-solid even with hard hand pressure to the back of the open blade. Did I actually "set" the lock somehow that eliminated the sliding problem? It seems that as of now, no matter how hard I try, I cannot recreate the problem and so I am happy as a clam. :) Anyone else have such experience?

It happened to me with a Mach 1, Mini Commander, and a 2000 Commander. My waved CQC7b is the only one it hasn't happened to. I found that if I rubbed the blade tang against my pocket lip (picture dental floss), it would alleviate the problem for a while. When in doubt, send it to EKI.

Sounds like it could have been poor finish work on either the back of the blade or the liner's engagement point. That "click" you heard was likely a burr or small piece of material breaking off and permitting engagement more along the lines of what the design called for instead of the unfished material improper engagement.
