It was seven years ago this month I went up for my Master's.

At Blade this year, Jim Treacy, a good friend, good client, and all 'round good guy, picked up my Master's Dagger on the secondary market.

I brought it back with me, cleaned it up a bit, re-etched it, and we sent it off to Mitchell Cohen, of Prairie Digital, for a new formal portrait.

Here's what was happening in '07; Explosion Damascus, African Ironwood, and 24K gold.

Who says you can't go home again?

Thanks Jim, and you, too, Mitch.

John

Certainly worthy of a Masters, stunning...............................

I'm with Russ on the damascus lin, looking from the tip up it looks like a row of ghosts with outstretched arms. Nice to revisit things when its not when they are broken.

That will always be a Classic Mastersmith Dagger.....at any point in time. :)

Here is the original photo of the knife.

I had seen the knife a few times because a good friend of mine owned it. He decided to sell it awhile back. At Blade on Saturday I saw the dagger on John's table and recognized it. John mentioned that he was thinking of asking the owner if he could refine the tip slightly and work on the finish. I told him that I would call the owner and if we made a deal, John could take it home with him.

The deal was made, John took it home and did his thing.

I am extremely pleased with its new look.

I also think that Mitch did a great job on the photo.

Thanks John!

I am so glad that a dear friend got the knife! Both of the daggers were super! I do like the make over! John is a great guy to work with!

Been tempted by this knife over the past year. It looks better now! I wasn't crazy about the straight guard but you've seemed to fix that!
