Sewing dee ring to sheath??

I have decided to try my hand at making my first sheath. I have seen a lot of pictures of nice looking sheaths on here so I hope one of you can help me. The sheath will be a pouch style for a small fixed blade knife. I want to attach a dee ring at the top of the sheath where the belt loop part of the pattern folds back. I would like to stitch directly below the ring so it is held in place. What stitching pattern is best for this area? Any advice is greatly appreciated and pictures would be great also. Thanks

Honestly - I wouldn't put the stitch there. I have seen no benefit from this stitch. Here is how I implement mine:

I use a removable D Ring and this stitch. In this manner I can have a belt sheath and a dangler depending on what the customer feels at that time.

Thanks for the info and great looking sheath. Is that a 3/4" dee ring and who supplies the removeable rings? I have not ran across those before.
