I am continueing to run into a problem where the belt loop interferes with the sewing of the edge of the sheath near the top. Is there some trick or part that will alliviate this problem. The thickness of the belt loop pushes the needle out of line and forces the line of stitches closer to the edge of the sheath.
Thanks
Steve

Got picture?
I've just started machine stitching all that I am able but I've quickly learned that there are some things that will always require hand stitching.
One thing for sure, when you layout a project you have to plan them so you know you're giving that foot room to maneuver around...found that out the hard way too.;)

True story there! You will eliminate problems by making a paper pattern and preplanning the location of loops etc. Generally you will need a MINIMUM of 3/4" clearance from the loop to the edge of the sheath. More is even better. Also you should skive the tip of the loop to about 50% thickness to eliminate so much bulk at that point making a smooth transition from tip to body of the sheath.

Thanks Paul
And thanks for the great videos.
I am sewing from the front of the sheath and the belt loop is pushing against the bottom foot area of the sewing machine. I will widen the foot area to 3/4" and hope that helps.
Thanks

Couldn't be a more honest statement right there! I was fortunate enough to have access to a machine from day one and you really have to think your layout through or you'll waste a lot of leather... I learned/am still learning the hard way too

Steve, measure the minimum distance needed based on your machine and then make that plus 1/8" your standard MINIMUM for pattern layouts for the loop offset. I would suggest 3/4" or more. It never hurts to have a little extra room!
