Well I've been tearing my hair out on goloks, custom oyster knives and EDKs..... so I just knocked this one out for fun. I call it the SFC, that was my rank in the Army and I figure Sheeple Friendly Cutlery is a pretty good description of the knife. 90% of you are going to hate it, no damascus, no complicated 987098 piece handles, no titanium bejeweled actions, NO PELICAN CASE!!!! no giraffe bone or mokumegame.

If you've hung around here are the specs:
1084, 3x tempered
2 7/8" overall
1 1/16" cutting edge 400x machine finish
3/32" spine
Stabilized redwood burl with copper mosaic and thong tube.

It's a prototype so yeah, there's some refining that could be done. The SFC has been fairly useful on my keychain. We're not allowed knives at work but my manager said this was cute and I could keep it on my keychain since it's not a "weapon".

As always I have my nomex and kevlar on so feel free to comment. Thanks for taking the time to look.

What a pile! You're right. I hate it. But wait....it's so damned cute!! Can't...resist....must....hold.....in.....finger!

I think it's a great little keychain knife. Better than most I've seen out there. And it's small enough not to scare the masses of uninformed hate-anything-that-may-possibly-be-construed-as-a-weapon-but-fail-to-realize-I-can-kill-you-so-much-easier-with-my-car people out there.

Good job .

You know, that would look really good in a Pelican case. Just kidding. Cool looking little knife.

That's a little beauty, put some water on it and it may grow into a bushcrafter. I like it! My wife just saw and said she wants one.

Make her one.... I don't care.... I'd prefer if you made them a little different if you choose to sell them though :p

If it is okay, I would like to critique the photography.

A camera flash can make a knife look rough. I suggest you try turning the flash off, illumining the knife from multiple directions (preferably with clean white light such as reflected from a window with white paper) and finding a way to stabilize the camera so the longer shutter time doesn't blur things. You can also experiment with where the highlights are being reflected from on the knife and put them in flattering places.

Whattttt you don't like my photography???? Don't you know I'm part Japanese??? I AM a camera! ;) :p

Yeah I need to build a cheapo light box and stuff and really work on it but there's only many hours in a day and I don't have enough of them.... it's one of those "when I get around to it" things. You are right of course, probably when I get ready to sell a more expensive knife I'll make sure I get the best possible photograph. Thank you. There are some scuffs from sharpening and sheathing, I didn't spend a lot of time trying to put the best possible finish on the blade but yeah I see how it does look more rough due to the photography.

Looks pointy - you'll stab your eye out:D Seriously, my wife walked by and saw it and now she wants one, too! (She actually said "how cute!"...)

Any pics yet Will?

Matt,
I keep screwing up the scale for your surprise. I need some magical dremel carving elves or something, the ninja monkeys don't carve stuff too well :(

Isn't it funny that little knives don't scare most people, and long swords don't either? It's the knives between 6 and 10 inches of blade that get the most.

sweet. I do get some ... remarks about my smaller 2 finger neckers, so I'd expect you'd get even more remarks! I like the pattern of the handles and the blade shape- and i think the non-taktikalista materials are fine.
