Yipee - what a knife, cant believe how heavy it is and these magnum slabs are are something else !!

Blade is also very wide and makes my badger look like a toothpick !! Everything about this knife is perfect expcet for one thing which I am a little upset about. The satin finish is not 100% - on the spine the satin has black marks (almost like the black coating has been removed and a few patches wouldnt come off). I wouldn't be too bummed if that was the case but I was expecting a flawless finish - as we all know these knives arent cheap so it's a small let down !!

Other than that it is perfect and it even made it through customs - they did open it and I wish I was there to see the look on the guy's face !!

Don't feel bad. Mine have similar character marks. Time and use will negate them in my mind. Besides, once I use it and later decide it needs prettying up, it can always be blasted again.

I know it's only cosmetic but when you pay close on $400 for a knife you want it to be perfect eh ??

:)

not the end of the world !!

I didn't say you wouldn't want it just perfect. Just that in my mind it is not an issue, for me. Call the shop if it really bothers you Brendan. I would try mid week next week though. It will take them that long to get back and sober up. :D

I would have some issues, if I had one.........sigh............

My first Busse ever, a SH-E with a satin finish, has the same black marks on it. I thought the same thing, that they had taken a coated blade and taken the coating off missing a few tiny spots. I called up the shop to complain and talked to Jerry himself. He explained that it's a byproduct of the polishing compound that they use, and that if it bothered me I could send the knife back and they would make sure to get the last few spots off. Well it doesn't bother me that much, and since it is a hard use knife I just wrote them off as character marks.
