Over the last few years I've been fortunate to handle and try out many Busse and kin. The SFNO was one that had evaded me. I did see a few at BladeShow last year but there were so few I didn't score one or even see one up close.

For me this is one of the benefits of the Battle Grade offerings. Many of us are getting the chance to try out knives that are normally hard to find. When I first saw them offered I knew I was getting one.

After handling it for a few days I was definitely looking forward to using it. The only knife I'd had that really compares to it was the TG and TGLB. Both are great knives but always left me wanting a little more to chop with. Yesterday we finally got a chance to try it out. I was impressed from the initial chop. We were chopping on some pretty hard maple and the SFNOBG took it well. This knife is definitely a keeper and a real bargain.

I can also say without doubt that the SFNO confirms I will be getting a NMSFNO. Bring on the BG Jerry. :)

I didn't get many pics but here it is with a TGBG.

Thanks for the pics and mini review. I definitely have plans to pick up a NMSFNO as well in the not too distant future.

The SFNO is a top choice of knife.
I have the LE, and it my favorite of all my knives.

This thread makes me even more excited to get my recently purchased NMSFNO in my hands!! Got Magnum handles on it too, should be real nice :) Hurry up postal service!

Great comparison pics of the handles btw

I messed around with the BG SFNO and ASH-2 this weekend, the SFNO felt really good in hand. The ASH-2 feels good but beat up my pinky every time I chopped into dry wood. I was also thinking that an NMSFNO in Battle Grade would be fantastic. I'm sure a lot of people use the ASH-2 with no problem, I just don't think it's a good match for my hand. The blade sure did bite in nice.

Ash 2 I'll take it.

O.P. SFNO is some pretty tasty bacon. How thick is the blade? I believe the CG were .22 or so thick.

The SFNO and NMSFNO are 2 of the Best Knives ever to come out of the Busse Compound Period-Great score, and Congratulations

SFNO is a classic all-rounder. Every time that a TG or TGLB tempts me, I remember that I have an original SFNO and Ratweiler, and can thus resist.

Drooled over SFNO pics when I first found busse a few years ago. UPS dropped off an ugly sage/canvas SFNO today. Can't wait to get home.

This makes my 4th busse, first direct order (takes sooo long).

So, if you had to choose, TGBG or SFNO BG?

Which handle do you prefer?

I have both in INFI (TGLB and SFNO LE), and I passed on the TGLB BG, but bought two SFNO BGs. So I guess I'd chose the SFNO. It seems al all around more useful knife to me.

Consensus is definitely SFNO (in an SFNO thread :o)

I've been eying them for some time now but has somehow escaped me thus far.

I'm going to have to sell a few blades so I can free up funds for one of these.

I love me some SFNO, not a fan of the TGLB, but the Team Gemini 14 is a much better knife IMHO-Heavier, sleeker, with Sabre Grind-The SFNO however would still be my choice for a 7 something inch blade, when were talking 8 inches then the NMSFNO becomes prominent
