SFNO in Sabre Grind?

Was the SFNO ever released in a sabre grind other than in the SFNO LE?

I have checked all the for sale ads I can find on the forum, as well as google images and haven't seen any that aren't flat grind. I have been looking for an LE for a few months and thinking it might satisfy me I purchased a beautiful SFNO from the custom shop on the forum. It was a great price and I couldn't pass it up. It came today and is great, but I can't help but want the same knife in a sabre grind.

Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, there definitely were some...

Thanks guys, I will keep looking. They must be harder to come by because the ones I have seen for sale in the last few months seem to be flat ground.

This knife in particular is the one UDDwaine sold a little while back. In is a great knife and came with an awesome sheath. It is my first Mikey Moto sheath and I am really impressed with the quality.

I bought mine on the Exchange in 2007. At that time, the SFNO was a rare and desirable knife on the secondary market. And there was a bubble in the Busse market. So that user cost $600. At the KC Trunk show in 2008, a number of flat grind, satin SFNO were offered at a lower price, followed later by the run of 300 SFNO LE. I think more followed at later shows.

They are out there, this one I caught and released was a show offering around 2010-2011. I think I saw one at Blade '12, but not sure on that.

Oh, and there may be one at the Knob Creek show this weekend, and if my eyes are not deceiving me... it's even a bruiser.

First Busse I ever purchased was a satin/sabre black G10 SFNO, I haven't seen any others like it until this thread, thanks for the great pics guys!

I'm still a noob compared to some of the HOGS that have already responded, so you have your answer :)

Strange enough, I always thought that there were more sabre ground SFNOs than flat ground...I remember being surprised the first time I saw a pic of a flat ground SFNO because I was so used to seeing them sabre ground up to that point. It was one of my first "grail" Busses so I did look at a lot of them until scoring an SFNO LE.

Whatever you decide on you'll be happy. FWIW though, between the tigerhide micarta and what is quite possibly the best finish on any Busse I've ever bought up to now, I'd say hold out for the SFNO LE - they are something special...one of the few Busses I regret letting go of...

Oh yeah. One of the coolest looking Busse's ever IMO. Resinguy is right. They used to go for a mint. Then they were re-released after a LE run and the price really came down with repeated special ganza and knife show offerings.

I agree that the SFNO LE is a great looking knife. I recently lucked into an Ash 1 that is the same configuration as an LE but not an actual LE, I posted about it a couple weeks ago. I've got a pretty nice collection going and it is easily one of my favorites.

Thanks again to everyone. I appreciate all the great pictures.

I forgot I had two SFNO LE's tucked away in a safe until I cleaned it out the other day. Very nice knives
