SFNO: Standard vs. Mags

I searched and found some opinions on this issue, but I'd like to hear more from SFNO owners (of which I'm not, yet). I'm looking for one of these, but never handled either handle version. If and when one comes up, I want to be prepared to jump or lay back depending on the scale type. I have pretty small hands and don't know if mags will fit me well. I did have a mag handled CGFBM for a while and it fit nice, but I'm not sure how the SF handle will feel. All of my other Busses are standard and they fit great, though I think the standard BATAC handle is a bit thin even for me. Any information you Hogs can pass along will be much appreciated.

I have medium-large hands (large or XL gloves). Both of my SFNOs have regular scales and they fit me fine. I like the fact that they are less contoured than mag handles. The TAC handle on the Badger seems taller than the SF handle, at least in the very middle, which makes that one portion probably about the same circumference on a Badger as the SFNO, but the rest of the handle is slightly smaller, if that helps.

In my opinion, if you want an SFNO you can't afford to be choosy. You have to take whatever comes up. I happened to get regular scales on my first and it fits perfect, so I'll stick with it if I get a third or a fourth or a fifth ... Well, you get the idea:rolleyes:

I have M-L hands and the regular grips didn't fit me right, so I sent it to the custom shop for magnum grips.

I completely agree with XMP, get any SFNO you can get your hands on and worry about the grips later.

That's what I should have done. Instead, Mulder got my almost-perfect SFNO and who knows who has it now (it was Jody's before it was mine).

I never see one for sale. Hoping there might be custom that comes up in a Ganzaaaa.

I have large hands and the magnums are more comfortable for me than the standard slabbed knives I've used. That said, I agree with these other guys. If you can find an SFNO, get it and worry about the grip later.

I've got M hands and for me personally I like the magnum slabs the most, but I like the thin slabs also. Like others also already said, if you can find an SFNO don't worry too much about the handles.

After looking for about a year, the one and only SFNO I found -- was a custom at Blade '07. Exactly as Guyon suggests.

Am I happy? You bet!! Do I care about the handles? Not really -- could always get 'em changed.

Buy the first one you see. Be there for the coming Ganzaa.
