help me out busse wizards. im looking to finish of my busses with either a tank buster or an sfno. i have a BJ, NMSFNO, B6 a CABS and a BS. but i'm looking at these as what would work best as a tactical/survival blade. i love the sfno design but i'm not sure it has good penetration. im having a very tough time. suggestions?

Feel free to take my suggestions with a grain of salt for when it comes to survival & tactical expertise...well, my idea of "surviving" is spending the night in a suit at a decent hotel, LOL! ;)

But...the best survival & tactical knife is the one you have on you when thrust in those scenarios. Both the Tank Buster and SFNO are not the lightest nor most compact knives out there. Your BOSS Jack or B6 would probably find more carry time as they are light yet strong...and they are quite capable in both roles. Even the BOSS Street or CABS would do in the hands of someone who has skillz.

But if you're looking for something beefy, and penetration is definitely a factor, then I'd say that the Tank Buster with the swedge option would probably edge out the SFNO.
However, if weight isn't an issue and you really want something that might fill both roles, has good penetration value, and is suited for multiple tasks, check out a Team Gemini. :)

Im gonna say tankbuster, its a beautiful and wicked looking blade. Also it's the one I have of the two so this is a pretty biased opinion. Cant go wrong with either though.

Of the two I'd go Tankbuster, since you have a NMSFNO... Itll add the most variation to your collection.

With that said, just throwing this out there that you may want to give the SARSquatch a look... I like it better than the TB I had and ASHs... I also favor it to my NMSFNO.

Here is a pic w the Tankbuster and other for comparison (no SFNO though):

awesome, sounds like the tank here. i'll take a look at the SARSquatch. haven't heard a bad thing about it yet. many thanks guys!:D

Or an Skinny ASH. I also agree with Jaxx that the Team Gemini fits the bill pretty darn well. I don't own one, but hopefully will soon.

+1 on the Hell Razor. I wanted a SFNO sized blade but the weight of the SFNO was a bit much on the hip... enter the Hell Razor. :) Another great, and lightweight, option is the Jackhammer.

My midsize favorites: Satin Jack, Jackhammer, & Hell Razor.

Tank Buster with its clip point, swedge and no choil sounds like the perfect knife to me.

Well to me there is a definitive difference between Tactical and Survival. I agree w/Darkaether & VoxHog in that if this is something you are going to wear in a Tactical enviroment and use accordingly a Hell Razor is a choice that would be hard to beat. Survival though I lean toward the Sabre SFNO. TB is a great knife and hell I have three of them but I guess I just like the feel of the SFNO the best, plus with the thinner blade stock you can achieve penetration if needed. Just my .02.

id like to offer something different since you mentioned tactical and penetration,,,,,dsf!!

the DSFs are really nice and slip right into a long specops sheath. DSFs and Team geminis are as long as an NMSFNO though. I can get a comparison pic of all of them with a sarsquatch, BJ, B6 and hellrazor late tonight if you want. I'm on the way to Busch Gardens now

A stabbier approximation of the Tank Buster would be the Satin Jack TAC. They are the same size but the blade profile for the SJT has less belly and more point. Top knife in the photo here:

I don't think there really is a wrong answer. Both knives would serve you well.

Remember that the first hit is free, kid.

I've got both. Both are good. Both will perform. IMHO, the Tankbuster is the tougher knife in concept and profile, particularly in the tip.

If you were limiting it to 'normal' camp type activities, the SFNO probably gets the nod. If you going more into 'tacticool' type use, ie more abusive use (prying/pounding, etc), then the TB is the choice.

Long story short, the TB is my 'this could get ugly' go-to blade, and it works nicely with a SpecOps sheath.

BOSS

If you are looking to fill both tactical and survival uses, I would go with the team gemini as the best all rounder for that role. With a close second to the Satin Tac Jac

A hellrazer would make a good straight out tactical knife especially if the top swedge is sharpened.

There must be at least 20 Busse models that would work well as pure survival knives, just take your pick.
