Just thought I would let anyone who may be interested know that the new Leathdex SFNOLE sheath is now available on my website. I lowered the price somewhat and will be offering the optional vertical carry attachment separately.

I sold the Leathdex ASH-1 buffalo sheath that I said I didn't want to make anymore but I have reconsidered and I am continuing to make the buffalo leather version due to the input I've received about it. It is difficult to work with but it sure is tough and I must admit that I do like the way it looks :).

This one uses high quality hard action snaps for strap closure instead of the Sam Browne button studs that I used on the ASH-1 sheath. I can do either style for any sheath I make though. It can be opened up for cleaning by simply removing 4 screws if desired. More details & photos on my site. Thanks for looking!

Happy Trails,
Richard

This may be on your site, but exactly what is "Leathdex"??? Is it a single piece of quality leather or is it something else?

It looks great, Richard. I wonder if you would be willing to add the leather only option for the SFNOLE, as some folks may not want the more expensive Leathdex system.

Very nice! I think you should put the 3rd & 4th pictures here as they are more persuasive than the the rest.

I noticed a mention in an exchange ad; of a leather/kydex combo sheath retaining some smell. Not saying this about this product. I just would like to know if there can be an issue with the Kydex keeping the interior leather from properly breathing is all?

I prefer one or the other for my knives to carry, Kydex for offroad carry and leather for home carry. I sometimes buy both types of sheaths separately for the same knife so it can be used wherever I go.

1Tracker, can you send me a link via PM or email?

Balislinger - Yes indeed! I have plans on making leather only versions for all the sheaths I will be offering and they will be much less of course. I will probably be making one of my "Mag Quick Draw" sheaths which uses rare earth magnets for retention. I'm waiting on a leather order from my supplier so it will be a couple of weeks probably.

1Tracker - The leather can still breathe even though it is waterproofed because of the product I use. When the knife is removed (as it should be when not being carried) there is a large opening at the mouth and a small drain hole at the other which would allow it to breathe so I can't see it developing an odor on it's own. Of course if a person sheathed a knife with smelly crud still on it then any leather sheath would retain an odor for a while at least or until it was cleaned. But then, if anyone did that then I think they would get what they deserved - a stinky sheath!;)

Very nice I would like one if it was a bit less $$$. Maybe when the leather only ones come out? They look like a gun slinger sheath. Very cool, good work.
