I had the chance to handle this knife during the Nova Petropolis show, but it was gone before I could take a picture. Now I found this picture on his webiste and thought it would be cool to share it with you all.

Apart from the rose on the buttcap it´s one integral knife, made in Sfreddo´s technique of forge welding the guard and frame. The pattern is a modified turkish pattern and the handle is ebony.

It feels very light on your hand, and it is extremely elegant for a 10" bowie.

:eek:Wow! to say it is stunning would be a grossly understated. This piece is truly a work of art, at least to my eyes.

John,

Your eyes see very well!

It IS one of the more amazing Bowies I have seen
in a long time!

Rodrigo, you are up there with the best of the best!

All the best,

I certainly understand why it was gone before you could photograph it.

Since there is no precious metals, stones, or engraving I hesitate to call it an "art knife", though I have no desire to start a semantics war over what art might or might not be. With Sfreddo I'm prone to accept that he belches artfully.

He's so talented. Watch him one day figure out how to do the rose on the buttcap as integral also.

Absolutely outstanding!!! This guy is just outrageously talented.

EXCEPTIONAL craftsmanship. The damascus is stunning as is the style. Just a beautiful knife and sheath.

Ken,

As you said, not to get into a semantics war, I still would
like to remind you of Wofgang Loerchner's all steel art knives.... :)

All the best,

I think I am safe in saying there is no one in the USA or Canada who can do that type of work. He is amazing.

I have seen Art made from garbage. If that's all Rodriggo had access to, it would still be an Art knife.

That's gotta be one of the most amazing knives I have ever laid eyes on.

Not even going to try to top that!

This is the knife Rodrigo Sfreddo showed in the making
for his section in my third book on Modern Custom Knives,
"The Art of Modern Custom Knifemaking".

Has this young custom knifemaker gone a long way since 2005 or what...
It is easy to judge by the amazing Bowie of his, posted above.....

All the best,

First shown on the forums in '09, it'll count for the '09 roundup. Yeah baby!

Rodrigo is doing work on MS level for a while now. It will only be deserving that he gets his stamp this year. And I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he took home the B.R. Hughes award to complement his Peck award.

He is by the way a wizard with his modified turkish twist:thumbup::cool:
