About a month a go it was my turn (again) to ask Rodrigo Sfreddo to make me something nice. The only things I asked him for were a turkish twist blade and an ebony handle. The rest was up to him. I just received the first pictures of what Rodrigo came up with.
He calls it a Merovingian dagger and the specs are as follows:The blade is a 5 bar modified turkish twist. The blade 9 3/8" and the dagger is 15" overall. Steel composition I don't know yet. The guard, collar and pommel are made from the same billet. The handle is carved ebony with gold washed chain. The sheath is buffalo leather with texturized high relief shark skin inlay and a damascus button.

I'm very pleased with the endresult and can hardly wait to take possession of this one.:):)

WOW!!
Very striking dagger from one of the best,it's the littlest details that set Mr. Sfreddo's craft apart.
In this case, from a quick perusal and being early in the morning,I notice his use of damascus for the frog button, love that about his sheaths, that an his exotic inlays.
His sheaths are the equal of most any MS and I haven't even really mentioned the dagger itself.
IMO,this dagger is a work of art.
Congrats,Marcel!

Beautiful dagger. That damascus definitely has the WOW factor and the craftsmanship is superb. I bet you can't wait to have it in your hands!

Holy freakin' #@$#! Every time I see a new Sfreddo knife, the guy has jumped to another level. I can scarcely recall a more demonstrable rise in skill over a shorter period of time than with this maker. Hats off Rodrigo - keep up the fantastic work. Marcel - congrats to you on this impressive piece.

Thanks guys so far for the compliments. I mentioned them to Rodrigo so maybe he will participate in this thread.
He told me that the steels used are O1 and 15N20 and that the high contrast is the result of a manganese phosfate application.

Roger, I have to totally agree with you on this one. I had another knife from Rodrigo made about a year ago and if I look at the damascus on the both of them and the overall fit and finish he indeed made a "giant step" forward.

Wow. That's incredible. And yah it's incredible how Rodrigo's skill has jumped in the last year or two.

Congrats Marcel. You are a fortunate man. It's VERY rich in styling and embellishments.

Like the others, this blew me away also. I don't think Rodrigo's skills have gotten better, but the complexity of the projects sure has! Yowsa!

Congratulations Rodrigo. You are raising the 'bar' each episode.

I'll echo Roger P it seems every knife Sfreddo makes raises the bar..excitingtalent

Stunning piece Marcel - Congrats.

I have examples of Rodrigos spanning the last few years, each one shows an evolution in design and complexity - his work is superb.

It' been awhile my friend. I see that you are keeping yourself and other's busy:D What a wonderful project the two of you have completed:thumbup:

That knife is just....wow unbelievable. I really enjoy they detail in the handle and how well it goes with the damascus steel. Its just really a joy to look at. I wish I could pick that up. VERY SWEET

Hello guys! Thank's for the comments and the support you always gave me. With so many nice people looking what you're doing, you need try to push the bar sometimes...
Sheers!

Just absolutely outstanding Marcel. The five bar Damascus is extraordinary. Rodrigo keeps raising the bar with every piece.

Congratulation to you and Rodrigo on a very successful project.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
