Here is a couple that are close enough to share some pics...They still need final fitting and finishing.
Both are quasi traditional patterns, with a modern twist.
The sgian dubh has a pattern welded blade from Delbert Ealy with a beautiful delicate lacy "fish" pattern . The handle has a hardwood core and is faced with carbon fiber and covered with carbon fiber sleeve. The sheath is kevlar sleeve with carbon fiber covering. The carbon fiber has all been laminated into place with a high quality clear epoxy resin. The turkshead fingerguard is round black leather. About as black as the black knife can be...
The next is a tanto, intended to be a take down knife. Blade is from Chris at Moss Knives aka knifemaker87. It is a very pretty and wicked bit of steel with an active temper line. He also made the copper habaki. The handle is hardwood core which has been inletted and bedded to accept the blade. The handle has been capped with carbon fiber on both ends. The handle has a layer of kevlar under two layers of carbon fiber and green fiberglass sleeving. Finger guard disc is carbon fiber.
Sheath is two layers of kevlar sleeve with a covering of carbon fiber and green fiberglass sleeve, coated with high quality clear epoxy resin.
I am interested in knowing what you think and any constructive critiques you may have.
