The Spec-Ops specs on a large Combat Master sheath suggest that it would be perfect for a Steel Heart-Ergo. I'm keeping and using one of the SH-E's I picked up (blade just under 8" long, 1 5/8" wide, between 3/16" and 1/4" thick).

This sheath looks just right. But before I order the sheath, I wanted to check and see if anyone else used this rig for this knife.

If so, impressions?

I had the small one and used it with a CRK knife. It worked very well. Quality was good, durability was good for the money. Plus, you can probably wash it if you take the liner out...which is removable for cleaning.

Yeah, I've got my BATAC in the small. I agree that the sheaths are very well made.

And I actually even have a large Combat Master sheath (came with the Becker BK77). However, the sheath does have a certain amount of bend in the kydex. This bend is intended as a friction system for keeping the blade from moving and/or rattling.

I still haven't actually used the SH-E yet (90% sure I'll keep and use this one). So I was hesitant (10% hesitant? :D) to run the knife down in the sheath and scrub the coating.

I figured someone here had tried this combo already.

Yes the SH-e fits in the spec ops sheath. A friend of mine who has a SH-e used my sheath and it fitted perfect. I'm sorry I don't have any pics for you but we probably will do some testing saturday so I can make pics for you then.

Thanks, JurT. Such was my suspicion. Pics would be most welcome.

I think if I go ahead and order the $40 sheath, I'll have no choice but to use this one!

Usually, I don't hesitate. But I did pay secondary market markup, and this one is just really, really nice. Polished spine, logo, great grinds.

Don't worry though. I'll eventually beat it like a red-headed stepchild. :D

My SH-E user was in a large Spec-ops for awhile, it worked, mostly it was stuck in there till the kydex showed up, so I didn't pay close attention.

I'll look tonight and see if there were any issues.

It'll be late , so no promises on pix.

I REALLY want the Spec-Ops Brand survival sheath for my FSH but I just don't think it'll fit:grumpy:

There was someone who posted a pic of a Heavy Heart in one. I remember that the HH was stripped, and it seems like the Spec-Ops sheath was OD. I'm pretty sure he had to modify the kydex insert, but it's possible. Let me see if I can find that post.

I'm pretty sure that was mymindisaHOG... and I remember someting about heating it up a bit to shape it.

edit to add: a day late and a dollar short... Guy on a porkchop beat me to it.
