I'm new to Busse. I like both the SH and the NO but I'm undecided as to which one I'll pick up. As best I can gather, the SH is a better chopper but it probably sacrifices some precision for small jobs. 16oz is pretty heavy. The NO is a bit more compact, but at 13.5oz and 6'' for the blade, it should still be able to do some chopping. So I'd like to hear from anyone who owns these knives. Maybe few own the NO because it is so new? Does the NO come with the kydex lined sheath? Also, is the NO blade length exactly 6'' or is it a little longer? I heard the SH blade was a bit longer than the advertised length. Thanks.
One more question- Is the SH blade tapered like the NO or does it have a false edge?

Can't answer your questions since I have a Battle Mistress-E and a thin Mean Street, however, to address your question about the SH being too big for precision work: A couple of nights ago I needed a tooth pick in the worst way and all I had was the BM. I whittled a very nice sharp tooth pick using the BM and had no problems with making small precision cuts! Once you get the "feel" of your knife you can do just about anything you want to with it!
Hope this helps a little bit.

Yeah what Ron said. If was going to have a choice at big hunting, camping, everything knife I would go with nothing smaller than my BM-e.Because of the similar handle config. and the choil, whittling isn't going to be much different. Chopping though the SH will do much better that the NO.But would Still take my BM over them all.
Hope this helps

AF,
To answer some of your questions.
Yes the NO sheath is nylon with the Kydex liner.
My NO's blade is 6 1/4 inches from handle. Has 5 inches of cutting edge.
My Steel Heart is the older stlye, but both knives are cool!!!!

Can't go wrong with either one in my opinion.

My Natural Outlaw is the best damn knife I have ever owned. To tell the truth with all the Busse knives I have owned i have never gotten a SH-II. I figure if you want a chopper you want a BM and if you want a field knife you want either a Badger or Natural Outlaw. The SH-II is a good compromise but if you have the cash I'd Invest in a BM and a NO. You can't go wrong there. Worst comes to worst you may decide you have no use for the NO and then you can sell it to me for about 50.00 LOL. The NO is a good little chopper. It will take large limbs off of trees like no body's business. But it won't drop a 4" thick pine in three hacks like a BM. I have always held true to the thought that a 7.5" blade is the best length for a fighter. You just can't beat the way they move. But the BM is a Better chopper and the NO is a better Jack of All trades knife. Personaly I think if I guy had a BM, a NO, and a MS he could take over the world as you've covered the spectrum of knife functions with these sizes. Though some may like the BA better than the MS and the SH-II better than the NO. Just comes down to preference I guess. This may help you make up your mind though... Andy is sold out of BM's and NO's (which I got one of each

) and has very few SH-IIs left. I won;t say when he will get more in... may be tomorrow, it may be 10 weeks from now but the first batch is sold out. I'd jump dude while I had the chance. Besides I like to see Andy make sale after sale after sale.

Ryu,
