Can anyone give me some info and background and also opinions of the Shadow IV. I am about to pick on up on monday for $100. Just want to get an idea of what I am getting,

The Shadow IV is one piece "tube handle" fixed blade knife made of A2 tool steel finished with with KG Gunkote. The knife is about 10.5" long with a spear point blade of 5.5" and has an aluminum cap to seal the handle tube. The Shadow IV is a pretty typical example of CRK one piece knives. When it was in production, one could purchase it along with a snap leather sheath for about $240. Overall quality was pretty good, though, many did not like the feel of the knife. Also, some users did not like the spear point and argued that the one piece designs with clip style points were more useful. If the knife you're getting is in good condition and includes the original sheath, I'd say you made a pretty good deal.

A Shadow IV or any OPK for $100 is a rather good price. Do you know the history of the knife at all ? I would wonder if perhaps that price was too good.....depending on what you might already know.

It was purchased new by the guy selling it. He used it lightly and sharpened it once or twice. He lost the box in his last move.I held it and looked it over was in good shape just needs a sharpening

Purchased new by the seller, yet priced so low. Not inconceivable, but here's some food for thought. I've seen some knock off one piece knives. Without exception, there have been differences in the fake knives that a sharp eye would catch. The boxes are very different, but in this case, the box is not presented to you. I would encourage you to take photos of a shadow IV with you, and compare. The Shadow IV design has been very consistent throughout the years, With perhaps the butt cap and paint Variations being the only significant differences in the "made in USA" knives.

If the knife is authentic, you have a screamin' deal on your hands!

I will do some research tomorrow. I don't think it will be a problem. The original owner actually gave it to my friend who owns the knife store to sell it for him. The store owner would never allow a fake. With that said I will do research just to cover my own tail.
