Well, I've never owned a Chris Reeve knife, but I've admired the one piece line for years. I've finally decided to try one out, and I like the Shadow III for it's size, weight, spearpoint, etc... I plan to use it as a general purpose camp knife and daily carry. If anyone out there has Shadow III please let me know you opinion on the knife. I've also included a link to the exchange section if anyone is interested in putting theirs up for adoption.

Thanks,

Jeff

I've got one, and I love it! The only thing with mine I still havent got done yet is a new sheath. The pancake sheath that comes with it is top notch all the way, only for me it is just a bit to wide. I am wanting to have a more narrow kydex one in the future, and to have it hang a little lower.

Can't get much to fit into the handle, I just put in an information card...Name, address, phone etc... Just for the SLIM chance that if I ever lost it, it may have a shot in hell in getting home!

Havent really cut much with it yet, waiting for my july vacation camping and fishing in the Smoky Mountains in Tenn.

If you look around you can get a deal on one at a knife show, I got mine brand new for 140. Still a deal at regular price though!

Keith,

Good point about the sheath. I like the looks of the pancake sheath and would probably use it most of the time, but I'd like an alternative kydex or cordura sheath on hand as well. Can you pick a different sheath for the knife (even a leather sheath similar to the one supplied with the Shadow IV) when you order or are they all aftermarket? Also, how comfortable is the handle for extended cutting chores?

Thanks,

Jeff

Here's a link for some kydex sheath's for the entire CR one piece line.

There are others who can make you one though. I talked to Mike Sastre to make me one, he offered a good price for one, just havent got around to have it done yet.

Havent used mine enough for long term cutting evaluation's.

I saw in another post where someone asked if the small fixed sheath for the mountaineer(?) would fit the shadow III, and they said it would, just a little snug.

We do offer a leather snap style sheath that fits the four inch styles of the Shadow III and/or Aviator. It is similar to the sheath supplied with the Shadow IV shown here www.chrisreeve.com/shadow.html . It can be ordered as a replacement at the time of purchase or aftermarket as an addition at a cost of $35.00.
