Shadow IV sheath questions

I received my first CRK fixed blade yesterday from Howard at the knifecentre.

I am hugely impressed with the knife and the quaility of the sheath.

I have a couple of questions about the sheath:

Being a lefty I found that the chicago screw attaching the snap over stud is moveable so I have put it over to the other rivet and put the knife in the other way for a true lefty knife. Looking on the CRK site it says that the sheath for the IV is symetrical so does this mean that I should not be putting the blade in facing the other way? It does not go in quite as smoothly as the way it came but it does not seem to be being forced or anything?

If it is the case that the sheath is righty only does CRK do left handed sheaths for them as I have read that geffler will not do sheaths for CR knives except through CRK?

what is the lanyard on the sheath for please?

CRK's new sheath design on some of its fixed blade line is intended to switched from left to right and vice versa without damage to the sheath on the inside or the outside. I have a MK VI that has the new sheath and I have had no trouble with the knife hanging up on anything on the inside. With time and use the knife will sit in the sheath properly. CRK redesigned the sheath to cater to the lefties without them having to special order a sheath. I'm a lefty, btw. ;) :D

The lanyard can be used to secure the knife to your leg.

All orders for sheaths must be made through CRK. G.Feller will not take orders directly.

Thanks Ken

I got an email from a former employee of Geffler that said much the same thing, the owner of Geffler is a leftie as well HOORAY for all of us.

I fly out tomorrow morning to should get your money order off to you by the end of the week (just have to find a post office first :D )

BTW nice pair :D

I just ordered the Kalgard Camo Shadow IV from Truenorthknives. I'm guessing it's the same chemical makeup as the black Kalgard. I have experience using other CR fixed bladed knives and the finish is top notch. I'm hoping there won't be a problem with the camo.

Also, for as nice as the leather sheaths are, I'm thinking of ordering a true kydex one. I hear Bladetech has some nice ones. Any other companies with the durability for the long haul? Eagle is suppose to be pretty good too.

Check your mail buddy!!
