Does anyone know much about these custom knives?

I think they're gorgeous and I'm planning to buy one very soon.
The Model II and Model IX drop point hunters are both very appealing to me for what I intend to use it for (carving), but I'm not sure if I should stick with the default 440C or get a different steel.

Any insight on the name brand or steel type I should get would be appreciated.

I have 5 Eddie made for me, and I can assure you that you can't match his knives, his prices, or his great service anywhere. He (and Miss Lora) are great people to deal with. Contact him, and he will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Bill

I got a model IX and it is a good sturdy hand made knife. Definitely made for using. The 440C steel will probably be good enough for day to day use, unless you're a compulsive cutter ;). I carry a 440C folder at work every day and it keeps an edge pretty well for "normal" cutting tasks.

I have a Model XII I bought on this forum. Eddie's great, very helpful, and follows through to make sure you have received and are enjoying your knife. My knifes in 154 cm and i think he has been doing several in that steel so if you ask he might be able to do that for you as well.
Also, the knives are far prettier in person than in those pictures.

I cant wait too see Eddies knives in Atlanta. I have almost pulled the trigger on a couple of his online offerings but I have large hands. If my hand fits one of those model XIIs look out!!!!!

Eddie is a wizard with putting a beautiful grind on the blade with a hair-popping sharp edge.

AFAIK, he works with O-1, 440C, and 154CM, and damascus as well.

He turns out very high quality knives - and he is one of the most honest and reliable folks you'd ever want to meet.

His website is www.shadowknives.com

I agree with everything said so far. As for steel, his 440C is some impressive stuff!

I own a 5 inch Model IX and a smaller Wharnie. Both are excellent knives and see more use than any folder I own. Get one and you will need more! :D
