This is the Knifemaker's wife folks, with a couple of pictures of Eddie's first try at a damascus lockback folder. This knife was ordered in January by a very good friend of mine, for her daddy's birthday tomorrow. When I met her a couple of years ago, she excitedly told her knife-nutty father that she knew a man who made knives. She asked him his favorite kind of knife so she could order one. He was being coy when he told her to buy him a damascus folder (knowing that she had no knowledge of knives and that she could not possibly afford one). Eddie didn't even DO damascus back then, just mainly 440-C. Daddy didn't count on Cat and her brothers chipping in on a payment plan either!

Well, it is because of my friend Cat and this knife request that Eddie searched for damascus and learned how to heat-treat, (temper, etc.) it. He has been making some fixed blades with the same 512-layer damascus (some carbon, some stainless) from Parker Edwards of Alabama (God rest em). It was her daddy's coyness that inspired Eddie to make the handles damascus as well!

I think he did a pretty outstanding job! Cat and her family are extremely pleased with the knife.

Here's the specs:
Blade steel: 512-Layer Carbon Damascus
Handles: 512-Layer Carbon Damascus
Liner: Brass
Bolster: Nickel Silver
Pins: Stainless Steel
Blade edge: 2 3/4”
Closed length: 4 1/8”
Overall Open length: 7 1/8”
Weight: 4.6 oz.

Parker Edward of Alabama, bless your pea picking heart, thanks for helping out and giving us Alabamians a good name.

Looks like Eddie can't make folders any better than he can make fixed blades-and with Alabama Damascus. Man I'd be ashamed to use that.
When you get tired of looking at that trashy knife I'll force myself to take it off your hands. I wouldn't want you to be humiliated to badly.;):D:D

(Have you found anything Eddie can't make if he sets his mind to it?):thumbup:

from knifemakerswife-
drd! i really can't think of anything eddie hasn't tried or tackled yet. i mean, think of the portfolio! fixed blades custom and production (hunting, skinning, filet, tactical, art knives, edc's) and folders (linerlock,lockback,slipjoint...and yeah he's put together some autos too)
why isn't he answering this post you wonder? well, two reasons....first of course he's in the shop today........second i kind of forgot to tell him i posted this, but will get around to it. he's really quite shy and doesn't have much of a clue how popular he is.

i just did a search on bf for eddie white and came up with 50 threads where folks like you show off your shadowknives or advise others to get one from him. no wonder we've done so well since we jumped onto BladeForums!

Thanks all!
