I’m trying my first shadow pattern I’m using 1/8 micarta for covers 1/16 g10 for liners 1/8 416 pin and 1/4 416 for my washers. So for my question when drilling for the washers should I drill down to my g10 liners or should I drill only into the micarta maybe .030” then epoxy? Would drilling to the liner cause any problems as making the pivot area weak?

Are you rounding your handles? If so you want to leave your washer thick enough that you don't grind the edges off as you cut that radius in the handles. I usually make mine around .075" thick. That's enough for rounding while still leaving plenty of solid material underneath. You might try around .060" since your handles are a bit thinner and you lack a steel liner. That should be fine.

Okay thank you but drilling my depth I would think by going to the liners would have more support than just going 2/3 into the micarta. Or am I going about this wrong ?

No the micarta has strength as well and you leave app. 1mm thickness plus the liner.

Okay and one last thing I always use bronze pivots bushings would that work with the g10 liners or not. As in would it be pointless or eventually wear a groove into them causing blade wobble ?

I've used bronce washers on G10 liners. I used a tiny drop of super glue to fix it to the liner. That way the steel moves over the bronce

So have you done it with no washers? Was there a noticeable difference in the action ?
Not with G10 liners, I always used washers there.
There is spring tension on the blade, you won't notice the difference between bronce and G10.
With all respect, I think you are overthinking your project. Just go for it and accept that it is a real option that you wont like the result and will redo it. That's how you learn.

I am in the middle of rehandeling a slipjoint right now.
I worked so hard to get something just right that I forgot to check if the blade was still centered. And it wasn't. So success and failure at the same time. But I'll never make this mistake again.
