I already posted this in General by mistake.. but Piterm"s post made me realize it shud be here...
..to make a long story short I locked myself out of my house out in the boonies, one of those reflex things that left me outside and two sets of keys, cel, and the BOB inside. Car locked, no one at the neighbors and important appt. looming(picking my son up for the weekend). Just had the III on my belt.
So pry off the screens weasel the point in to the cracks and slowly pry and lever the reluctant much painted window up high enough to get a branch in, lever a bit more, then squirm in and bobs your uncle.
A rather prosaic use of a cutting instrument, but it saved a windows glass, a lot of hassle, and got me to my son on time. The point, edge and finish are still A-1 on theShadow, and I have just a bit more confidence in it.
I like the little guy. :)
have an edc day

and yes I put the emergency keys back in their hidey hole, they were inside too..:(

Well done! Shadow III is a really tough EDC knife. And the size is just as should be... not too small to do a job, not too big for daily carry.

I completely agree. Haven't had my S3 long but it has been an EDC since I got it and I'm really pleased. I have pondered it's tip strength and prying ability since I got it but been afraid to test it. Glad to hear it held up to a painted shut window.

Brian..yep I pounded it in fairly deep so there was lots of surface to take the weight but no problem.. but I also now have a prybar in the vehicle :)

Very good use of a versitle tool. I have the Aviator and am confident it would stand up to the task. Perhaps a spare key in the handle? ;)

Agreatscot..
LOL.
Seriously a ground down key might fit, but where would it end, to fit in all the stuff I forget regularly, I'd end up with a knife handle as big as... well the BOB I locked inside to begin with. I keep thinking if only there was a root cause I could attack, sommething basic, something I could possibly..what uhm... work on, ahh..where was I?

Where was I?? Sounds like me, I need to stop looking at knives and order some GINKO BILOBA!!!!! Stop looking, yeah, right
