Does anyone here have any thought on those lights that do not require batteries? I have seen two versions, one you shake the other you crank (no bad joke). I wanted to get a couple to leave in the cars and maybe the house. I have a 4 year old (yea the one in my avatar) that is always wanting to "use" my lights and batteries are getting expensive.

Best ones?

Thanks folks

I bought a $5 one at wal mart that you pump a little handle in front and it is LED. If it is for your son or not used much I would say it would be perfect. I have used it for about 30 minutes so far and it works good but the parts inside are plastic and I expect they would fail if used a lot.

They work ok, but they only have one LED, so they're not so bright. The price is coming down on good LED flashlights that have multible LED's. they're bright, and a set of duracells will last a very long time. I bought one a year and a half ago and haven't changed the batteries yet, and likely wont for another year. And I,ve even left it on all night.

Have you tried rechargeables? The NiMH type are supposed to be better than the older varieties. I just bought 4 AA, 4 AAA, and a charger yesterday so I guess I will find out.
