I am amazed that the boards aren't blazing with pics and reviews of the Shallot. This is THE knife we all need. I just love it. There is a thread on what we would want made, well, for me, Kershaw made it:

REVIEW TIME - I've been using this knife only for the last week or so, around the house for everything from trimming small branches, cutting hose, cutting plastic drainpipe extenders, carving up stakes, etc. Lock up = awesome. Edge retention = awesome. Ergonomics = awesome. Recurve blade usability = excellent. I used every millimeter of this blade for all types of cuts and it didn't let me down for any task.

BOTTOM LINE - this is a great user. It is sturdy enough for most tasks, and the lack of thumbstuds or opening holes reducing binding and catching in material. In all, GREAT KNIFE AT A GREAT PRICE.

OOOhhhhhh. check This thread. Towards the end (starting around post 10), you'll see lots of Shallots. New ones that I know you'll want.

There's lots of us that love the 'super leek'.

The Shallot was my first knife I got and love but I REALLY like the look of this one

I received one as a gift a few days ago, and it IS one the the most excellent knives that Kershaw has put out.

Shhhh. If we keep the Shallot on the hush-hush, maybe I'll have a better chance at the boutique runs. ;)

The Shallot is my favorite Kershaw right now. I got one about a week ago and it's everything I was hoping for, a larger steel handled frame lock, tip up and no thumb studs Ken Onion design. I'd post some pics but the wife took the camera to Mongolia on a business trip. I own two titanium bumps, a aluminum handled speed bump and a ricochet, with a frame lock scallion on the way. The design of the Shallot is so cool I'd be surprised if it wasn't a best seller.
Cheers,
Rob

So true. When I initially went out looking at knives I was set on getting a SOG Flash (is that a bad word here?? :D) and the sales guy said I should look into Kershaw cuz they were the ones who "invented" the AO. So he showed me the Shallot and I bought it right then and there :D Now there's no stopping. I picked up a Blur and Ener-G II the next week and am looking at getting a Storm and maybe the Groove too :D

Hey tcc, keep in mind that if you want AO, the Groove is non AO. An R J Martin design, it's a beautiful frame lock with G-10 overlay and the flipper is very slick even without the AO. If you're set on more AO's, consider the Speed Bump. Stud lock, too. They can be found in an aluminum handled version on a popular auction site for around $ 40 to $ 50 (KS1595ALBLK). I'd also consider the Cyclone. A work horse of a knife and a great value!

Yeah, I'm whining for Ti grips when they do the ZDP composite blades.
Thomas put the kibosh on that in the other thread. Personally, I think a sister to the Ti/ZDP Cyclone would sell great.

Actually is was the customer that requested the stainless frame lock on the Composite Shallot (price).

Thanks for the tip SPXTrader  Although I'd like to always have/purchase AO knives, it doesn't have to be. I'm more into the looks and shape of the knife. If it has the right "curves" AO or not, I'm probably gonna buy it ;)

I've been eyeing these since release.

I really wish they would offer a G10 handle, then I'd be sold.

I think that if the Shallot came with the same type of G-10 overlays that the Groove has, that would really be cool...

I want one, but I think I will wait until they are released in 14C28N. That was one tough decision when I sat down to order my first Kershaw: Shallot, Lhar, or JYDII. Lahar first, so now I have to order the other two.

I Love my Shallot as some might know. In fact, it is my EDC now up in Maine at Acadia! A truely wonderful knife, Kershaw could only make it better with some G-10 overlay.
