(( Copying deal-spotting doesn't make it right, either. ))
I found that amusing, for some reason.

Anyway, since it was against the rules, I did not go there to check it out.

Oh, and BTW, they're already sold out.

Oops... :o

First I'm NOT complaining, but I was wondering why "deal spotting" is not allowed? I have just never heard of a forum not allowing you to share deals and was wondering about the rule. My current EDC knife was purchased because someone pointed out a great deal for me on a forum that made me purchase it. (made me, that's what I tell the wife lol) Again, curious, not complaining!

And I'm glad I heard about it before I did it myself! :D

I've often wondered the same thing myself.
The first reason that comes to mind is: What if someone points out a "good deal" on eBay? How do you know its not the seller or the seller's friend tell us about the "deal"?
Also, if its on a website that sells knives, how do you know its not an employee of the site?
This forum allows for that type of thing for a small fee. If anyone could "spot deals" no one would pay the fee. Since there aren't any ads on this site, they have to pay for its upkeep somehow.
I guess you could base your decision one how long the person that posted the deal has been a member here to see if they are on the up-and-up, but I don't think this forum has the ability or desire to do this on a case-by-case basis for every person spotting a deal.

From the BF Rules:

------------------
Deal Spotting
Yes, we know you found a great price on the Ninja Disembowel 4000 at SuperPriceMART. We don't care. We'd prefer you support the dealers who support BladeForums.com. As such, we don't allow deal spotting because otherwise the forums would be a quagmire of "deals" (real or imagined) posted everywhere, or unscrupulous people posting "deals" for non paying dealers. So don't do it.
------------------
Deal Spotting Penalties
This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care.
If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising.
This infraction can be issued as a warning and is worth 10 points towards your total. It expires in 12 months.
