Shaman DLC Serrated SV30, should I?

Hi,

Iv been on the fence with this knife for weeks. I do not have a serrated folder in my small collection. I'm looking for something somewhat heavy duty that will holds its edge and not scratch up the DLC with moderate use. Not looking for a beater though. My biggest concern is what I have read regarding the compression lock and the small tab that strikes your finger when closing. I need something less delicate than my PM2. I love to fidget with all my knives except the Massad Sprint run. Is this knife fidget friendly? Does the Spyder edge cut better than other serrated knives? What to do?

My dealer has one in stock! Thanks!

If your dealer (assuming local brick and mortar) has one in stock, go play with it and see for yourself!

If you wanted a beefed up PM2, then yes, the Shaman is a beefed up knife in all aspects. It’s actually a beefed up Native plus compression lock. I guess you can say if a Native 5 and PM2 had a child and it grew up playing football and had protein shakes for breakfast daily, that’s what the shaman is.

I don’t really mind the nub that “interferes” with the locking tab, but many others have done the nub delete and been satisfied. I fidget some but not a lot. I don’t tend to fidget with my Shaman.

I only have 1 full Spyder Edge knife and rarely use it, so I can’t speak to the edge. But lots of people love a fully serrated edge - I just like plain edges better myself for most daily use tasks.

Thanks, no my dealer ID online. No knife dealers here in metro NY except for low priced quality ones at a couple of gun stores. I love my PM2, and I am looking for a slightly beefier one, with larger blade. I'm a fan of the compression lock. I'm sure I could adjust to the nub since most seem to and it's being produced that way after 6 years.

Do you feel the action is as smooth as the PM2? Thx

Naw, don't buy it, just hang around and agonize about it. If it were me, and it was the last one, I'd grab it fast!

Well, I went online to buy it and.....SOLD OUT! It must have sold yesterday. Honestly though, I prefer the non DLC version anyway. I put myself on the notification by email. I am sold on it now, thanks for the responses.

Not S30V and not serrated but Blade H Q has their exclusive DLC coated CPM-M4 version available still. And priced not very differently than the based S30V price.
