I just got a new shaman with the black dlc blade. My question is how well spydercos blade coatings hold up? I usually avoid black blade coatings except cold steels dlc which can really take hard use and still look good (e.g.. recon 1 and American lawman). For the price this Shaman costs and spyderco s reputation for quality this may be a silly concern, but I'd like to know. I got a good deal for this the last one at a vendors table at local gun show ,and I really like this model if your wondering why I didn't just get the uncoated blade. The coating seems flat or Matt in appearance vs. Cold steels shiny look dlc which makes me wonder. I really hard use my knives at work and doing yard work,1" thick cardboard, heavy plastic wrap, vines small branches, food prep etc..

Ok thanks, good to know! I forgot to add that I believe this model is discontinued so I m hesitant mess up a potential collectible. Oh who am I kidding I'm going to use it anyway it's too good a tool not to.

I stand corrected, it seems sold out at many places. One thing about spyderco is with all the variations, sprints and wide choice of different models, they keep things interesting.
