I got my Shaman in the mail today, and it looked pretty good, but the backspacer looked like it needed another pass or two through the stonewashing process because it wasn't quite finished; there was a black spot (that was blacker than the rest of the stonewash), and a tiny little dent, as well. Did anyone else see some fit and finish issues with the metal parts of their Shaman?

No issues like that here. Send it in to Spyderco and they'll make it right.

I could. Beside the cost of shipping (which, admittedly, is not that much, but still), you don't have your knife for a while, which is irritating. I'm used to the Amazon standard of their shipping a fresh one which gets to you in two days, with no shipping cost for you.

I'm afraid you guys are going to pillory me, but I believe that factory new blades should be perfect. Here's a picture. There's a very small black spot on the very end of the backspacer that's closest to the blade, and there's a tiny, tiny nick further away from that, too. You can rightly say I'm being extremely picky, but i haven't seen this lack of a uniform finish on the back spacers of my other blades. Perhaps this is standard for a rough stonewash. (I haven't seen this lack of uniformity on the actual blade, though. )1515470709556-236001994.jpg

I can't say that I can see the issue you mean(plus it is a production knife they're rarely "perfect"), but I had to send a knife into their warranty department last year and it came home in 11 days. If it really bothers you, you won't have to wait a long time to get it back.

Thanks. I've sent in a knife before, and it took longer than that to get back (for sharpening), but I appreciate the additional data point. I uploaded a second photo that shows what I'm talking about a little better.
