Hey there Spyderco-fans:

As many have been, I'm drooling hard on my keyboard while checking out the Shaman (yeah, yeah, 'just get it!' - i get it!!). Quick request: can one of you with the inventory & ability please post a couple side-by-side pics of a Manix2 & Shaman - both open and closed would be ideal. Also, any impressions as to the similarities and contrasts between the two knives would be appreciated.

(FWIW, I already have a Manix, and am wondering how different the Shaman feels/performs).

You can also do a comparison between the Shaman and Domino. I own one but it is having Marble carbon fiber scales made and I should have it this week.

I love the blade on the Domino, it’s a great little EDC.
The Manix 2 and Shaman are a great comparison, the Ergonomics are similar with Shaman having a fuller, thicker grip with contoured G10. The Shaman is heavier but also feels much more substantial, the blade is thicker and the grind and distal taper is less pronounced. The Shaman feels like it could stand up to heavier use.

Could you give me your impression in terms of pocket space? Specific to manix 2 vs shaman. My main gripe about manix 2 is that it consumes quite a bit of room. I was hoping the shaman remedied that a bit.

It is better in the pocket but is thicker and heavier. i was surprised that it was not as tall as the Manix 2 when folded.
The Shaman is just over 5 ounces so you definitely feel it in pocket and it also slides into the pocket well thanks to the contoured G10

Freedom Pullo:

Thank you for the picutres, as requested! I am surprised to see that the Shaman may be a little less tall in-pocket then the Manix, though the difference in thickness probably makes them feel like they are taking up about the same amount of space...

The Shaman is on my short list, for sure, though I may wait until there are some interesting Sprints out.
