(( Shameful deal spotting link :p ))

This ad does not say anything about being a fake, and the bids are up to $110. I'm sure that the people bidding on this thing are under the impression that they are getting a real Seb. Wish I could warn them.

That guy is notorious for his fakes. He does not claim its a sebenza, he says it's inspired by the Chris Reeve sebenza.

Dubious sellers plug in weasel words like "...inspired by..." or "...(insert brand name) style.." to get their crap to show up in searches for the genuine articles. I couldn't tell you how many rip-off Randalls I've reported as listing violations. eBay almost never takes action.

Wow. I had no idea they were faking Randalls to :thumbdn:

This guy fakes everything. All the Chris Reeve models, Striders, Hinderers...you name it, he'll fake it.

Shouldn't be worded that way, but, typical of ebay to allow it, they are the shameful ones!

Isn't it just like super obvious? "Inspired by Chris Reeve", "Original sellers specs". Whoever bid on it probably isn't too bright lol

Well here is the problem. While probably unintentional, the OP is now advertising this knife for him here on BF. Not everyone who comes here thinks it's unethical to buy fakes.

but it isn't a fake, it's "inspired by" :barf:

Since it nowhere claims to be a Sebenza, technically it's not a fake.

To be accurate it is a replica, in much the same way as companies make replicas of the AC Cobra. Now I would say it's an illegal replica, because it is being made without approval of the original company, but that's another thing entirely.

People buying it know they aren't bidding on a Sebenza because I'm pretty sure that if they're on eBay they can read.

Thank you, Bigfatts. I just got it.

We've got a counterfeit here as you pointed out, deal spotting, and a Chris Reeve connection, which should have been posted in their forum, not in General Knife Discussion, where I'll move it now.

This is absolutely true. We had people doing it here and Spark even put in a new rule to ban it.

SECTION 3 - Rules for Sellers / Traders / Service Providers (hereafter referred to as "Sellers"):
5. DO NOT SPAM KEYWORDS. Items listed in the ad must actually be for sale in that ad and that ad ONLY. This isn't ebay or craigslist - If you spam keywords trying to increase the visibility of your ad(s), your ad will be deleted and your account will be locked.

As I understand it, eBay will respond better to the manufacturer's complaint than to us. So it's best to contact Randall or CRK and let them contact eBay.

The link needs to be removed from the op. It is against the rules to link to a live auction or a counterfeit knife. Read the stickies in the GB&U.

My apologies, I hadn't even realized that it was a violation to post the link, and I was most certainly not trying to advertise for that slimeball. Thank you Esav for removing the link :) I will email Chris Reeve and tell them about this phony.
