Another great catch.

Beautiful....and back then no doubt deadly in the hands of those who knew how to wield it.

Not big fan of the shape of the guard, but thats of course how its supposed to look.

I must say, that I prefer the beautiful, simple and elegant Shaska over this. Its beautiful because its simple clean design.

Thank you. Shaska has a straight blade, a curved blade is characteristic of Oriental arms.

that is a very fine addition to any custom knife collection. Lots of fun to be had to view for a long time. Well done at getting such an interesting piece.

Well, my Shaskas all have a little curve to the blade - as little as you can have and still be called curved, lol.

But I know You have a few and most likely will have forgotten more about the Shaska, than I know....You being into blades and from Russia and all.

One of my interests are 1796 Light Cavalry Sabres of which I have a few originals.

Where was the Shamshir made and of which steel?

NB Do you have email? I have a question about the veracity of my Shaskas and know there are a lot of these being replicated and flooding in from Asia.
