I think that the Shadow is the only one still in production. But which knife do I buy (and why)? I don't have a practical need for any of them, but that's never stopped me before. Any favorites?

I have both the Shadow and the Warrior. I think both of them resemble a real smatchet more the CS machete smatchet with it's one unsharpened side and not completely symmetrical appearance.

The Warrior is quite a bit bigger so would perform more like the original Smatchet but the Shadow is easier to carry. I like them both.

The Shanghai Warrior arrived today. I'm sure that I am going to like it because it feels so good in hand and has a nice weight and balance. The only complaint is that the grind is off slightly.

I also found a Smatchet available for sale so I ordered it as well. I never got around to ordering either of these discontinued models when they were in production, so I'm lucky to be able to buy them new in the box now. But my big regret is the Natchez Bowie which it seems has dropped off of the planet all of a sudden, which is strange seeing as it is listed in the CS 2019 catalogue. I have seen a couple advertised at stratospheric prices.

If your feeling brave, I believe there's a couple on eBay right now for reasonable prices.

you need both the warrior and shadow, but if I were to only own 1... I think it would be the warrior

lets be honest, this is not an EDC.... so, leaving a big knife at home till it's play time, doesn't matter what size it is.... it's gonna sit at home just the same either way.

now, assuming the zombie water bottles attack, and you need to defend yourself, then the larger of the 2 will always be more fun to do so with.

UNLESS... you actually intend to carry them???....!

then I would take the shadow....warrior is just tooooo big to reasonably carry, even in Texas.

I found a discontinued Smatchet for sale (NIB) and it arrived yesterday. I've got to say that I really like it! True, the upper edge is not sharpened the full length of the blade, but both edges came pretty sharp for a machete, and the balance in hand is great. I will need to apply some sports tape to the handle as it is slippery. All in all, another good CS product. I'm glad I bought it.

Have them both, prefer warrior. The warrior heavily resembles some of the old British fur trade dags. To the point where the Hudson Bay Company actually put handles on them as per the native custom, later in the trade. I read a fur trade post journal for one of the posts up here. Two natives where blasted on rum and one stroked the other two or three times with one of those large, wide, double edged dags. If I remember correctly the guy was opened up badly and died where he sat.
