After playing around with the Shango in its out-of-the-box setup I decided it was time to put the final personal touches on it. I started off by removing a little bit of the coating from the backside of the striker to create an even more aggressive striking surface. Not at all necessary (it already threw sparks like you wouldn't believe) but fun, and allowed it too be used like a conventional scraper for my LMF rods. It throws big globs now regardless of what kind of rod it is now.
I also rigged up a merc-harness-like harness for it so it wouldn't flop around like any neck knife loves to do.
Because I'm paranoid I fabricated a paracord locking retention loop so I could rest easy when jumping around and sliding down hills and such.
Pull up on the ring...
...So you can undo the retention loop.
And there you go!
When you pop it back in, replace the retention loop and lock it in place by pulling down on the tab (not the ring)
And here it is with its spiffy new orange handle wrap!
