Andy posted a sweet shadetree Shank up on instagram not too long ago and, since we have seen some ASP and Sneaky Pete comparisons, I would love to hear about your Shank and Wasp comparisons.

All I can find is from McVeyMac back in '14

Got some comparison pics of my pure maiden of a Wasp and that no-good, rotten, fish prepping, Shank that I got from Joe Duder.

Even though I really like the Shank profile, the name is very aggressive. I was thinking we could have a Shank part II named something like "Fiddleback Common Garden Knife" :D

I don't have a Wasp, but here's a comparison of the Shank with the Bear Cub:

Most obvious differences are the guard and the butt. The shank is also a little more curvaceous in the handle and little pointer in the blade.

Here I was thinking that the Bear Cub was in the Kephart family but I can definitely see some Shank in there. As you note, yours has some seriously beautiful curves in the handle.

Its funny. The Shank was a knife I designed after watching Gangs of New York, and was supposed to be based on the sharpened piece of steel one of the characters used. It looks nothing like it. My design process is more about inspiration and then drawing, seperately. I don't ever draw while looking at pics of the knife I am inspried by, so they always end up nothing like the knife that kicked off the drawing. The Wasp was another attempt at a dagger. As usual, it started as a symmetrical dagger, which I hated as I have every one I've designed. Then I erased one half and made it assymetrical and liked it a lot better!

I think asymmetrical blades look better with the asymmetrical handle profiles anyway.
