Shapening A Commander

I have seen a couple of comments about the difficulty of sharpening a Commander with a flat stone due to the recurve in the blade. Does anyone with an EdgePro have any experience using it on the Commander?

Also, I understand that everything about the blade is a standard V-grind except the very edge is only sharpened on one side. That is, one side is not flat like on my tanto CQC-7. Meaning it will not be a problem to eliminate the chisel edge totally. Is that correct?

Thanks for you help.

do ya mean ya wanna turn it into a 'V' grind blade?? if ya do, i would get someone to do the job for ya, w/the right stones/etc i guess it wouldnt be too hard, but a pro can make it look lots better imho.

had a commander w/a 'V' grind done by badityo and it was a really good cutting knife, worked great. also had very straight grind lines, looked like EKI did it!!

good luck

I reprofiled a Comamnder with an Edge Pro Apex. Turned out OK but it's a lot of work since you have to do both sides. The lead in V is the same but one side has no edge angle and the other has twice as much as you are used to so material must come off both sides. Send it to some one to do on a belt grinder unless you have a lot of time and patience.
