shaping guards..

i see lots of knives on here with the most beautiful guards..mine however look lke i made them after a few too many at the local watering hole..how bout it guys whats the secret..are there patterns? or am i stuck with ugly guards ?thanks alot

Could you post a pic or two of what you've done so far and describe in a little more detail what you'd like to be able to do differently? Sure would make it easier for folks to make suggestions that might help.
