Shapleigh Diamond Edge Shingling Hammer - Age?

This is an older Shapleigh DE Shingling Hammer that I am trying to date. I have found a few similar to this one with the following exception: The Hammer head on my hatchet starts out octagon, but the actual head is round. All the others I have found the head is octagonal. Any ideas?
