Yea, I'm envious of Danbo's haul ;) Who wouldn't be :D

Well, I wanted to get some high quality Japanese chef knives, a damascus piece, a tanto, a microtech, a kit knife, and a greco ( a solid user by a guy who is not making them anymore). I wanted to get a knife from a mastersmith but that just didn't happen.
Anyway here's my haul...now to edit in descriptions..pic 1 is a Masahiro veggie knife. Great knife for the price, I would have gotten more but all the had left was Deba's and sashimi knives.
Pic 2 is of two Murray Carter's
Pic 3 is of a Arno Bernard. Wart Hog Ivory scales. I went and got it after seeing a fellow fourmites. I think it was Pyrguy. I already have a couple of Arno's little beauties...this just fit right in.

More pics of my Blade show haul...Decriptions:
First pic is of a Greco. A nice size knife. It felt the best in my hand of all that he had there.
second pic is of a Ron Gaston Tanto with burl scales. Ron Gaston has been on my list of makers to get for a while. Great grind lines, top grade scales. Fit and finish is supurb.
Third pic is a Microtech Mini Socum Elite Plain edge Urban Camo. I was leary about getting a Mini but after seeing and handling it I was very impressed with it. This thing is light but still has the solid lockup you expect from a microtech

and yet more pics... :D and final edit in of descriptions...
Pic one is of a small Steve Isbell Tactical Japanese knife. W-2 clay hardened. This knive was bought with the larger one. This knive turned into Steves "demo" knife after he discovered scratches on the blade from the unlined kydex sheath. He'd been dropping it point first into the cement/carpet with little damage to the tip. He said he'd re-profile the tip and remove the scratches free. All I have to do is get his addy and send it off.
Pic two is of the large Steve Isbell. It's damascus.
pic three is a detail of the damascus.
pic 4 is of the tip
pic 5 is a group shot of all the knives except for the kit knife which is a knifekits.com SG4 precision Game Hunter kit.

Looks like you got a good haul, Tom!

Really like the Gaston tanto.

Thanks guys,
I really like the Gaston too. It's a b*tch to photograph tho. Get a good shot of one detail another is "flared". I'll have to make a light tent to do it justice i think.
Danbo, you got the best stuff. What I liked best of your stuff....

is your background. :D :p Glad to see you are using it for something other than a big door stop like I was.

You got some cool knives. Have you used any Murray's kitchen knives? The one I got is awsome! What a great kitchen knife. I'm going to have to order more.

Another great haul from Blade - thanks for sharing the pics and congrats!

Roger

Looks like a bountiful harvest for you at the blade show. Well done, shappa!! :) :)

Great haul!!!

Let me know if either one of those Carter pieces don't work for you......;)

I wish I'd had some pick me up a couple. :(

Hey, I just found out that Murray Carter is an abs Mastersmith. So I did get everything I was after at Blade....didn't even know it LOL :D Why didn't one of you guys tell me? :p
Dudley, I haven't even used them yet. Just fondled them while surfing the forums. Which is really kind of funny since I'm a chef! I really can't see myself being disappointed in them but If I am I'll let ya know they are available.
Mr. Carter is in the process of moving to Oregon (I'm pretty sure that's what he said) so his work should be a little easier to aquire.
