I currently have the 8k stone. Does this offer any benefit or is there a better choice.

Thanks in advance.

At that point you should just be stropping.

1um diamond on leather.

The conformity of the soft backing will have a better effect than a flat hard stone at that grit.

A lot of folks get OCD and want to complete the set of stones with every grit, but there's no reward for having every stone in the series.

All the pros mix and match stones.

Unfortunately most people will over polish on a flat hard polishing stone due to crushing/rounding the apex too smooth or not even reaching the apex due to their edge bevels having too much convexity from poor angle control on previous stones.

When using a stone like that, you're mostly just trying to go for a look and you will achieve that better with a strop anyways by hitting all the high and low spots.

So at past 8k, we should definitely be stropping.

I prefer Gunny Juice 1um diamond emulation.
It has a very high concentration of quality sharp diamonds allowing for a rapid effect with a good polish while keeping the bite at the edge without over polishing if your angles are good.
