I got a profile sharpening system and have just added the Atoma diamond plates the 1200 is not very fine as it leaves pretty good scratches. I can refine it with my old Work Sharp guided system diamond plates but would like to go finer than the extra fine. I don't know what micron that equates to as there not listed in the grand unified chart. Is there a big difference in the quality of the Shaptons vs Choseras ? I want a super sharp hair whittling toothy edge what micron should I go down to? I do strop with a 1 micron diamond spray. So to bottom line this question which brand of stone and what grits would you recommend? Does anybody know what micron the WSGS extra fine diamond plate is? (I will be buying the stones build for the edge pro system mounted on the plates.)

I prefer the Shapton stones because they don't need to be soaked. Just a quick rinse and they are ready to go. They are slower than the clay matrix stones but last for a long time and dish more slowly.

The Shapton Glass stones starting at a minimal of 1000 grit and going to 6k or 8k before stropping would likely provide you with the results you are after.

I recommend a progression of 1k-3k-6k or 1k-2k-4k-8k. The later will provide a better polish because of a tighter progression if thats a concern.
