I've never lost one but I did have one notable mishap! I was doing a scale swap on an AD20.5 and managed to get everything apart without losing the spring but just as I organized all my parts into a nice cluster off to the side of my work area, my over stuffed cat decided to jump up on the workbench to see what was going on. The one thing she managed to step on was that damn little spring which caused it to flip down off the bench nearly reaching terminal velocity into oblivion! Luckily I saw it hit the carpet and was able to quickly secure it! Moral of the story is you can be as careful as you can but if you forget to lock the cat out of the room when you are working on a knife or gun, you are in trouble!
