Dear BF Traditionalists,

We all know this feeling, but I thought I'd share...

It's Saturday morning. Coffee in the cup, hot cereal on the stove, Irish music on the radio, and the comforting weight of my 73 in the hand. All is well, and I'm happy. Hope you are, too. This forum means the world to me. Thank you all for giving me a place to share a moment like this.

Much love,

TucsonMik (Mikel).

I feel the same way. Enjoying all the pix people post and opinions on various knives.

Having my first cup of coffee for the day with ya here about a thousand miles away. I was just admiring a couple of recent GEC acquisitions myself.

And good morning to all...

As much as I love my kids (too much to be measured!), there's just something very very peaceful and satisfying about that first beverage of the day (good coffee) when they're still asleep, and that last beverage of the day (maybe something strong and brown from Kentucky or Scotland) when the little angels are finally snoozing. Give me a nice slippie to fiddle with and I'm in a zen state. :-)

A pal of mine keeps a Bothy down in the southwest corner of the Isle of Lewis at Bhaltos in Uig.

We cooked the fish that had been caught, in a spruce fired stone oven. As well as ribs and sausages and other tasty treats.

As well as the bullnose which was on slicing duty I had a case peanut in my pocket. I used it to spear a cob of corn which had been cooked and smothered in butter and black pepper. My mate, hands covered in hot butter enviously looked at me and said (and I paraphrase here);

"You always have a wee small knife on you don't you? I'm gonna have to get one. You use it for everything and they're so useful".
I chatted to him about it and he said he wanted to get one with blades like mine that would develop a character (it was a cv peanut of course).

I had a slightly drunken smug look on my face all night. We hooked another one everybody!! :)

This either needs knife content, or it needs to be moved to the lounge.

Great knife and idea, Mikel

Paul, It looks like the Bothy is set in a magical place!! Thanks for the picture. It seems one would simple have to carry a knife there:D

Well, it's Saturday afternoon, and y'all should know the feeling...day off (or retired), a nice bottle of Sol on hand, a slice of Spanish white cheese and a couple of olive oil and pepper crackers, Phoebe Snow playing in the background, and the comforting weight of 71 whopping grams of Wenger Soldat in the hand. All is very well on the plantation, and it looks like things are great for the traditionalist's. Thank you for allowing me to share this moment of bliss.:D

Great idea for a thread. It was a gorgeous, sunny morning to wake up to here in the mountains of the high desert ... Let the dogs out, check on the chickens - feed/water and gather eggs. Coffee brewing... Check what's happening here on BF of course. :)

I'm retired, so my mornings and daily routine are pretty much the same. I'm usually up around 4:00 to 5:00 AM so my days start well before sunrise. As soon as I roll out of bed the Stockman drops into my pocket.

It's quiet and peaceful in the rural area I live in. Just how I like it. Life is good!

My beloved #81 and coffee cup about 10' from my front porch. :)

Thank you all for sharing your moments! At that moment when I was looking down at my beloved 73 , I knew I wasn't the only one out there in Traditional Saturday bliss. I had a feeling that many others were out there slicing, opening, spearing, brewing, sharing, and just plain coon fingering their beloved pocketknives (love that expression by the way...coon fingering...it's a gem I learned here on BF).

It's amazing how a common love of something so seemingly small can resonate with so many people. Arizona, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Michigan, LA, Somewhere In Europe, Scotland, California, Texas....and counting.

Cheers to all!

- Mikel.

And Frank's absolutely right...more knife content. The pile side is actually my favorite side of this 73. Just a beautiful, smooth slab of ebony:

Good idea for a thread. It's Sunday morning here in sunny Singapore and I'm waiting for the wife to get ready for church. I've just looked into my knife storage box and decided to go with a Charlow with customised covers for the morning. It brought a smile to my face knowing that there are others out there who share my passion for sharp things :)

Great thread. Here in central Texas, in August, it doesn't get cool but in the evenings it gets at least "tolerable". I like a quiet moment on the deck, usually surrounded by the dogs, and always a pocket knife to fiddle with. Tonight it's this older model Texas Jack. Just came in today and I spent most of the morning putting a shine on it. I really like the cut out for the nail nick on the pen.
