Went for a wander again :)
Found some interesting things besides heat , an dry , and drought .. thought Id share

First up , was this feral goat .. I like our feral goats , the are starting to show traces of the boer goat in their build now at times , besides the usual cashmere / angora cross breeding . This one in particular tho , just turned to look at me with some kind of attitude that made me think of Justin Beiber

Apart from that goat is obviously able to grow facial hair .. the lack of respect , the disdainful look .. eewww enough of that ..

Found this little wallaby just hanging out in the shade minding its own business

And this bunch of horses ... they tried to ambush us looking for treats .

The picture is kinda over exposed .. its just part of how things are here , its hot , 40+ degrees C , no clouds in the sky .. even the horses are smart enough to be standing in what shade they can find .

This isnt actually a footpath ... its a road , just a little on the skinny hungry gutted side , the paddocks kind of tell the story of the area around here tho and how well , or how badly things are for stock as far as feed goes .

The grass is gone pretty much .. stocks being hand fed in a lot of places .

The most fascinating find of the day tho for me was this old cottage

Finally , I wanted to share some fast food I snapped a couple days ago too :

If you ever tried chasing one of these down youll know how dam fast they are

Fast-food as in you eat that lizard?.. What is that some kind of gila monster?
I'm in the north east United States and that defrosted us a bit! Awesome! Makes me happy I am moving back West to the Nevada desert within the month!
Looks fun down there!

And that's not Celsius my friend.

Great photos. Beibergoat was a good find. Here in Adelaide we're having our first day of coolish weather in weeks - today it's only hitting 28 degrees C (~82 deg Fahrenheit). But it's back up to 42 deg C (107deg F) by Wednesday. Not the first time I've thought about moving to Tasmania.

Freezing up in the US, scorching down here... I hope everyone is looking after themselves no matter where they are.

Nice photos mate , cheers! U coulda shot bieber , er , I mean the goat , no one would care either way lol

This one got a reprieve , but yeah , goanna is definitely on the menu when Im camping , in certain circumstances .. when there is plenty of them only , and if I am actually needing it .. like im low on food , its legal , Im a fully micro chipped registered card carrying native .

Around here , they are very rarely seen , and more often the not they end up as road kill , so I let it go with my blessing instead of killing it .

Very interesting, how big is that? Hard to tell scale from pic.
You hunt it with a knife? Then skin it or, cook whole....
And of course what's it taste like? I've had alligator but never a big lizard.
Microchip huh?.. Oh man, that's even worse than the USA. (for now)

The goanna is about 3 - 4 foot long only , from nose to tail tip . I have gotten bungarras ( big goannas , really big goannas ) in WA that were far bigger . I havent seen anything to compare with them on the east half of AU tho . they just breed em small here .

I am , seriously , joking about microchipping . I am legally a native , I do have light or "white" skin .. and I get flack by all sides about youre not really ... I have never heard it from a tribal lawman , they just have that knowing , but others , yeah .. especially over zealous rangers and cops who take offense to me hunting native animals or using bush medicine / collecting bush food . I have had them run checks on me to verify that yes I am legally a native . I may have light skin , but I dont sunburn easy . to the point where we were constructing radio repeater towers and fitting them with the transmission gear in 40deg + heat , up the towers there is no shade , my boss was like a boiled lobster , and smothered hourly in spf15+ cream and smelling like a whore for it .. I wore just my tshirt and jeans ... no sunburn cream , and got no sunburn , just browned up a bit .

Its actually at times a big deal tho , some of the plants I collect are pretty common , they literally grow along the roadside ( I go inland away from the roadside , cars trucks , toiletting travellers etc make roadsides an unclean place ) , and they are a pretty powerful medicine used in cancer treatment to give relief when a patient is diagnosed terminal and beyond conventional help . Kinda highly restricted tho when it comes to who can touch the stuff .

Govt .. anyone who knows what jamwood looks like , especially in WA , you know wattle , thin leaf , bunches yellow tiny ball like flowers , long pods with black seeds that have a funny red thingy attached that the big meat ants collect them for ?
Theyre illegal ...

they have long been used as poultice for pain and inflammation relieving , from headaches to broken bones , but the same chemicals that do this are also a controlled substance and our govt here has in its wisdom made the WA State Flower .. illegal to cultivate

remember this ? http://www.stgmagazine.com.au/community/2011/02/05/ornamental-plants-and-drug-offences/
Its law now lol . It covers a truckload of native plants too .

sorry , got waaaaaayyy off topic there , ok rant over .

OK good thing you joking about the chip, I thought you meant the ID card had a chip in it...
Having grown up in the southwest USA desert, we would find some pretty cool plants. My friend back in school had a botany book and we would collect some of these active sacred plants.
It's sad how the government makes nature illegal. Good that it's open for the natives there.
We always found it amusing that datura (angels trumpet) could kill, and evoked complete delirium of hallucinations was legal and grew all over. But more healing and totally safe plants where controlled.
Luckily in the USA they only care about cannabis. In fact you could have a truck load of any sacred plant you wanted and once they verified it wasn't cannabis you'd be on your way lol accept Park Rangers, they are more informed.
At any rate... How do you hunt n then prepare the lizard and what's it taste like? Only reptile I've had is alligator and it was so fried up and sauced over I couldn't tell anyway.

Cooking goanna is not hard :)
Kill it , clean it , put it on the coals and cook it , or in a fry pan , or on a grill .. your choice .
It really does taste like chicken , its just white meat .
Snake tho to me has a fishy kind of taste , Im not keen on it , or the mass of bones that often goes with it .. personal preference tho .
Hunting them is for me more a matter of chance , I used to knock them out of the trees with a .22 rifle mostly . Those lizards climb .. , rob bird nests of eggs and hang out where people arent usually looking for them .
