I wasn't sure where to put this post at first. I befriended someone at my job and we got to talking. I realized he didn't have a good knife so I wanted to share the hobby with him as he said that he bought various cheapies when he was younger.

I gave him the choice between some of my favorite knives in my own collection. I don't believe in giving away junk knives. So I offered him an Alox Cadet, Spyderco Manix Lw and a Case mini copperlock. I gave him a breakdown of how I got into knives and how I went from maybe 80 Knives in my collection down to about 10. I also explained the fine nuances between what and why I edc what I do which is a traditional. But I also knew that he was getting into home renovations and a good modern one hander is handy in those situations. He settled on the Case.

When I gave it to him I saw an instance of that primal human look come onto his expression. Like when man first discovered fire or a tool. Those moments are hard to find when we live in this modern world which takes away from our primal selves.

Anyhow I'm really glad that he was able to embrace knife carry and he instantly saw the benefits of carrying a traditional knife as an Edc over a modern. But that's less important more important is that he saw the benefit of carrying a knife. Just wanted to share.

I don't know how to double tap thread quotes anymore. Hey Hickory that Mora is looking very Bushcraft these days! : ) I'm glad it's getting used, it had a whole season of yardwork and hiking carry before I sent it off to you. I actually ended up missing this cheapo partially serrated Cara Cara 2 for hikes and picked up another one.

At Glennbad, yes indeed he was a really good guy! I think he wants to quit eventually and become a 203K loan home rehabber! What he is doing now is awful, he builds reports in spreadsheets and he hates it.

We're his current knives modern style folders ?
If so it really says something that he had the choice of a spyderco and chose the ever classic case peanut.

Not at all he was a Leatherman kinda guy! No harm in that! But not the best choice of carry where we work, lol.

He came to us via veterans to wall Street program BTW. He grew up in a poor urban neighborhood like me so we have a lot in common.
