I don't know which forum to post this in exactly.....

But:

I'm looking for information on Sharkskin sheaths. Or a Maker willing to make a sheath in Sharkskin. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The Mother of Pearl Co., Inc. carries shark skins in Black, gray, ivory, brown and peanut brittle colors. They are quite pricy for the amount of square feet you get, ( 4.5x5.5 sq. ft.) at $ 100.00 to $ 135.00. Were you looking for the sheath to be make totaly from shark skins,or have the skin used as an insert or overlay? How big is the fixed bladed knife you want this sheath built for? Do you have a budget for this project?

I've got a Custom Fred Perrin La Griffe I want done. Total length of the Griffe is 5 Inches.

Totally. However, if you can suggest another option or a more interesting option I'm all ears...

Do you have a budget for this project?

I have funds to play with. But as a general rule I like the sheath to cost less than the actual knife......

hello Brian,
It won't take very much sharkskin to build a sheath for a knife that's only 5" overall. To pay $100.-$ 135.00 for a few square feet of sharkskin, that may never be used again is rather tough for a sheath maker to justify. I'll have to pass on this project.
Have you tried Tree Stump Leather, out in Maine? He might have the sharkskin on hand already for you.
