Does anyone else out there think it is rediculous that we try to cut our food with either butter 'knives' that should be called three-year-old's playtoys? And we also cut with forks that are duller than my false edge? Quite often, I'll actually eat with a paring knife.

I use a 4" Henckel's paring knife. I've been known to eat at restaurants and refuse to use their cutlery because it is either dull, plastic, or made in China. I will put down the crappy knife and whip out my folder (used to be a Stryker, but now it is a BM Ares or a MT SOCOM).

I always use my daily carry when I cook and when I eat. Doesn't everyone ?

I've been there. Most times, my friends just tell me to shut up about the dull, crap knives already

Haven't tried using my daily carry to eat with yet, but that's an idea....

On the other hand, it may just be a defensive measure for the current lawsuit-crazy society. Heaven forbid that the knives should be sharp enough to actually *gasp* cut something. Guess they don't realize that a sharp knife in many ways is much safer than a dull one. Lost count of how many times i've had to use brute muscle trying to cut meat with a dull knife.

In restaurants they have to be very careful because I have seen that most people don't watch their kids while they are there. They are always playing with the utensils and Mom and dad are doing their own thing a sharp knife would almost always end up in a law suit. It is a sue happy place out there, and nobody wants to take responsibility for their own action. Go figure? even at home it would be desastrous. But for my self if the isn't sharp then I use the knife I am carrying which is always sharp and yes they even bite their owner some times.

I use Marttiini steak knives I bought in Finland. And often I use a small Rapala (another Marttiini). And lately I've been using an Opinel. The only thing I ever saw my Dad cut his steak with was his Case stockman. Didn't matter where we were at, he'd always pull out the Case for steaks or chops.

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

I use my daily carry knife to cut food in resturants frequently as the cutlery is usually poor.
