sharp edge on the hole on my cricket

I recently bought a cricket, This is my third spyderco, I have a civilian and a large centofante. There is a very sharp edge on the hole on the cricket. My other two have the edge of the hole relieved. If you look at the edge of the hole there is a very small bevel. No so with the criket. Anyone else have one like this? I tried out all three they had at the store I bought it at, they were all the same.

Unless it is REALLY sharp (like if it's actually cutting up your thumb), I much PREFER it that way as opposed to a bevelled or chamfered edge. It allows your thumb to 'grab' a lot better reducing the chance of your thumb slipping out of the hole during opening.

Hope that helps some,

You can use a very fine sand paper to round out the sharp edge.

IMO, The new spydercos have less comfy opening holes, it's supposed to improve purchase while opening, at least I think that's what I heard Sal say.

Drew,I have a few Spydies with holes too polished and a few with almost too sharp edges.I prefer the almost too sharp for a better thumb purchase.Break the edge with a little emery cloth and all will be fine.tom.;)

mine was uncomfortably sharp, so I just pressed some abrasive paper (400 grit?) against the hole with my thumb and swiveled it a few times, now it's fine.

i hit the hole on my merlin with a dremel. maybe 5 seconds or so before it ceased to be a little harsh feeling.

I preffer the holes unchamfered, unless they are really dangerous. In this case, a round file does the trick in no time...

Both my Cricket SS and my Meerkat had holes that were sharp. Not enough to cut, but I found it unpeasant. Like others have suggested, a few minutes with a bit of fine emery paper fixed the problem.

I cannot speak to any other really recent Spydies, but my Kiwi would be rather difficult to open were it not for the crisp edges on the Spyderhole. They give my thumb that little extra purchase.

Just picked up a Delica today at lunch, and has some of same thing, at least compared to my Endura.

That being said, I only notice it when I'm purposely dragging my thumb over the hole to see how sharp tghe edge is. if I'm just opening blade, don't notice it, exept to extent of noticing how great a purchase my thumb has, as has been mentioned.
