Just saw some new stones show up at bladehq called cubic boron nitride. Are these a grit between the diamonds and the brown stones or same as diamonds?

Hi,

There is a fairly extensive thread on the Spyderco website General Forum with testing (Cliff Stamp) and photos about the "CBN" stones which, I think, will answer your questions. I haven't gone through the whole thread in detail yet, but if I'm not mistaken, they are more on par with the diamond sticks and much more aggressive than the brown stones. I'm going to give them a try. Mike

And thanks for the heads up. I was wondering when they would be available.

I've been curious about this and have read cliffs thread, but I am still unsure how they compare in grit to the diamonds. I wish they were MORE aggressive, but I think I remember someone saying they were about the same.

I just read the other thread on the spyderco site and didn't see any real info on where they fit in as far as grit goes. I think that thread was older though, around 2011. I am going to hold off on them till some more info is out on them.
