Sharp Pocket Clips

Hi

I have some aftermarket pocket
clips for my PM2 for deep carry. Looks great but they are a bit sharp on the edge and damaged the leather on my steering wheel in the car when getting in and out.

What is the best way to polish them down a bit without damaging them? One of them is black titanium.

Have you tried carrying it clipped on your back pocket in the corner? May work for you ... Does for me when I need to carry it that way

I would be afraid to scratch up the leather seats but thanks for the tip. What I am looking for is a way to polish/buff the edges so they are less sharp but without ruining the look of the clip. Any tips/experience on that are greatly appreciated.

Only way I know to do it is with a belt sander to make it look good ... Then sandblast it to clean it up

Fingernail buffers? One of the grits on a nail buffer is used to "polish nails" is fine enough to round edges and if done with a degree of care can either simulate natural wear or intentional machining. I have used them millions of times on my nails ;) and to ease the finish on knife scales under clips to prevent shredding of clothing materials.

Ease the crisp edges with some wet/dry sandpaper at medium - high grit, like somewhere in the 600 - 1000 range, maybe 2000 if the clips are high-polished stainless. Assuming the clips are stainless or Ti, it should be a breeze. Doesn't take much to get rid of the grabby 'bite' the edges will exert on things. Might also be able to do this with a green Scotch-Brite pad. Anodized or colored Ti will expose bare metal, if sanding or using the Scotch-Brite.

Wrap the sandpaper around a softish sanding block, like a rubber eraser, which will produce a more uniform finish.

Might also try burnishing the sharp edges with a ceramic hone, which should minimize exposing bare metal, if the clips are black or otherwise coated or plated.
